A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI following a fatal crash in Anaheim on Sunday night. The collision occurred around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Broadway, involving a red SUV and a white Volkswagen sedan.
Authorities say the driver of the red SUV was trapped inside her vehicle, requiring heavy rescue equipment to extricate her. The woman, later identified as Samantha Farris, was hospitalized for medical evaluation, while the 56-year-old victim from Long Beach was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Farris, a Buena Park resident, was reportedly seen drinking at a nearby business before the crash. Investigators said Farris made a left turn in front of the victim’s vehicle, causing the collision. She was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter after being medically cleared from the hospital.
Farris was released on bail Monday, and the case is being processed by the Orange County District Attorney’s office. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Anaheim Police.
