WA Man Charged with Assault and Burglary Out of Jail

A man accused of breaking into a woman’s home and attacking her this past weekend is already out of jail. According to court documents obtained by FOX 13 Seattle, 35-year-old Marchet Dion Jenkins Jones allegedly entered the victim’s house in Parkland, Wash., and assaulted her.

The victim, who noticed a stranger approaching her house, attempted to lock the door, but Jones forced his way inside, pushing her into a table. The attack left the victim with a torn ligament in her knee and a broken ankle.

Jones was found a few blocks away from the scene, covered in blood and matching the suspect’s description. During his arrest, Jones denied involvement but provided vague responses to deputies. A judge charged him with assault in the second degree and residential burglary, setting his bail at $25,000. Despite this, Pierce County records show that Jones is already out of jail.

Deputy Carly Cappetto of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department expressed frustration over the situation, saying, “It’s frustrating to make these arrests, put them in jail, and find out they’re back on the streets within a couple of days.” As investigations continue, concerns are mounting about the safety of the community in Parkland.
