President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural parade will feature a MAGA-themed garbage truck, which gained attention during his campaign last year. The truck, decorated with “Make America Great Again” messages, was first seen in October 2024 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Trump rode in the truck during a campaign event as a response to President Joe Biden’s comment about Trump’s supporters being “garbage.”
The truck, which has been nicknamed the “big, beautiful” garbage truck, will join the Inauguration Day parade in Washington, DC. This parade takes place after the president is sworn in and will go from the Capitol to the White House. Trump had previously donned an orange safety vest and hard hat as he rode in the truck, which was used in a political stunt during the campaign.
When Trump introduced the truck in Green Bay, he asked reporters, “How do you like my garbage truck?” He also joked that the vehicle was “in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.” The truck became a symbol of Trump’s response to Biden’s comment, which he made about Trump’s supporters being “garbage.” Trump’s campaign team quickly arranged for the custom garbage truck, which Trump jokingly called a “hot” idea.
The parade next week, organized by the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee, will showcase about 7,500 participants, including veterans, first responders, marching bands from high schools and universities, and equestrian teams. The event will begin immediately after Trump’s inauguration ceremony at the Capitol, taking him down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.
This trash-themed vehicle is just one part of the festivities, emphasizing the political message Trump has built during his campaign, and his response to Biden’s words. Trump and his supporters see the truck as a symbol of defiance and humor in the face of political attacks.
