Three Teenagers Arrested in Decatur Shooting Incident

Decatur, Ala. (WAFF) – The Decatur Police Department has arrested three teenagers in connection with a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning. The suspects allegedly fired gunshots into an unoccupied home on 11th Street SE.

Officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered that an unoccupied residence had been struck by bullets.

While en route to the location, an officer noticed a vehicle speeding nearby. A brief pursuit ensued, ending at an apartment complex on Central Parkway SW. Multiple individuals fled the vehicle on foot, but two were apprehended shortly after.

The investigation revealed that three juveniles were involved in the shooting. It was also determined that the vehicle used during the incident had been reported stolen in Decatur. Additionally, two firearms were recovered following the pursuit.

The first juvenile suspect has been charged with shooting into an unoccupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a minor, a charge categorized under “certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.” He was booked into the Morgan County Jail with bond set at $15,300.

The second juvenile was also charged with shooting into an unoccupied dwelling. He was similarly booked into the Morgan County Jail with a bond set at $15,000. Both of these juveniles are being charged as adults.

The third juvenile suspect was arrested on Monday and charged with shooting into an unoccupied dwelling. He is being held at the Tennessee Valley Juvenile Detention Facility.

Authorities have indicated that additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
