TRAGIC: Man Killed in Adams County Shooting, Suspect Arrested Hours Later

ADAMS COUNTY, Ohio – A tragic shooting early Sunday morning in Manchester, Ohio, left one man dead and another behind bars. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the victim as 47-year-old James D. Land, who was fatally shot by 43-year-old Jason Strain of Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The incident unfolded around 4:42 a.m. when deputies received multiple reports of gunfire in the area of 312 E 7th St. Upon arrival, officers discovered Land suffering from fatal injuries. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle quickly leaving the scene following the gunshots.

Authorities identified Strain as the suspect and believed he had fled the area, heading toward Bowling Green, Kentucky. With the help of Ohio State Highway Patrol’s traffic camera network, Strain’s vehicle was located at approximately 10:29 a.m.

The Bowling Green Police Department intercepted the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop, and successfully apprehended Strain. He was taken into custody without incident and is now being held at the Warren County Jail.

Strain faces charges both locally and in Adams County, according to the sheriff’s office. Officials have not released further details about the motive behind the shooting or the relationship between Strain and Land.
