Tragic Death: Deaf St. Louis Woman, 62, Mauled by Dogs She Couldn’t Hear

Authorities in St. Louis are investigating a tragic incident where a 62-year-old woman, Gladys Anthony, was killed in a dog attack in her backyard. The attack happened at her home on Theodore Avenue, and when police arrived, they found Gladys badly injured and bleeding. Along with her, a 73-year-old man had also been bitten by the dogs, and they were trying to protect themselves using a broom and a gun. The gunshots were what led to the 911 call.

The police officers tried to stop the bleeding and help Gladys before emergency medical responders arrived, but sadly, she passed away at the hospital. Her daughter, Keshia, expressed her deep sorrow, saying she feels the pain of losing her mother and can no longer speak to her.

The 73-year-old man was badly bitten but is expected to survive. The three dogs involved in the attack ran away when the officers arrived, but police were able to track them down and have them taken into custody by animal control.

Gladys’ brother, John Jenkins, shared how hard it was not being able to say goodbye to his sister. He mentioned that she was about to turn 63 in a week.

The investigation is ongoing, and the dogs are being held by animal control. According to St. Louis law, if a dog causes serious injury or death, the health commissioner will decide if the dogs should be put down.
