A 27-year-old man lost his life late Friday night when his pickup truck veered off the road and crashed into a tree in Painesville Township, Ohio, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. on the 500 block of Blackbrook Road. Deputies responding to the scene discovered a Chevrolet pickup truck severely damaged on its passenger side, pinned against a tree.
Authorities say the driver was trapped inside the vehicle and unresponsive. Firefighters worked to cut open the truck, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene before a medical helicopter could arrive.
Investigators believe the truck was traveling east on Blackbrook Road when the driver failed to navigate a curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, hit an embankment, roll onto its side, and collide with the tree.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, but alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the crash. Authorities continue to investigate.
