A tragic dirt bike accident claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy, leading authorities in Georgia to investigate the circumstances of his death.
The incident happened over the weekend at the Echeconnee Motocross racing track. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Community Ambulance Service about an injured rider. According to Sheriff Lewis Walker, the injured boy was Dalton Hill, who was participating in a motocross race when he was seriously hurt.
Emergency responders quickly transported Hill to Atrium Navient Health Macon, but despite their efforts, he did not survive. Hospital staff pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what led to the accident and whether any safety concerns were involved.
Echeconnee Motocross, the race organizers, shared a heartfelt statement on social media following Hill’s passing.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of one of our Motocross family members, Dalton Hill. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dalton’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the statement read. “Please keep the Hill family in your hearts and support everyone affected by this tragic accident.”
Hill was a student at Georgia Military College Prep School, which honored him by flying all flags at half-mast on Monday.
The school also released a statement expressing their grief.
“We are heartbroken over the tragic loss of our student, Dalton Hill, who passed away over the weekend at an event with his family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones. As a school community, we will support each other through this difficult time and keep Dalton’s memory alive in our hearts,” GMC Prep School shared on social media.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and authorities will continue gathering information to understand what happened.
