Man Dies in Tragic Accident While Towing Truck in McHenry County, North Dakota

McHenry County, N.D. – A 64-year-old man lost his life after being pinned between a vehicle and a building while attempting to tow his truck on Thursday night.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the 100 block of 42nd Street North. The tragic events unfolded after the man’s pickup truck veered off the road and became stuck in a ditch in a rural area of McHenry County.

A 74-year-old motorist passing by stopped to assist in towing the stranded truck. While the two men worked together to recover the vehicle, the pickup driver stepped out of the truck to check their progress as it neared a nearby structure.

Unaware that the 64-year-old had exited the vehicle, the other man continued towing, resulting in the driver being pinned between the truck and the building. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and extricated the injured man, who was then transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the individuals involved in the incident. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
