In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old from Millvale has been arrested after allegedly bringing a semiautomatic gun onto a Shaler Area School District bus. The arrest followed a coordinated effort between Millvale and Shaler police departments.
The situation came to light on January 30 when Shaler school resource officers were alerted to the presence of a firearm on the bus during the student’s ride home. Authorities swiftly investigated and identified the teenager by January 31. The student was promptly expelled from school pending further investigation.
Millvale Police Chief Tim Komoroski confirmed that the teen was taken into custody on Saturday. The case has now been handed over to the Allegheny County Juvenile authorities for further legal proceedings. The school district and local police departments have worked together on the investigation to ensure the safety of all students.
This disturbing incident highlights the ongoing concern around student safety and the potential threats within school environments.
