Sunday night turned unsettling in Baton Rouge as police responded to two shootings within just 20 minutes of each other. The closeness in time and location has left the community on edge, though it’s still unclear if the incidents are related.
The First Incident: A Life Lost
Around 7:45 p.m., East Baton Rouge EMS rushed to Jackson Avenue, near the 3100 block, after reports of gunfire. Sadly, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. This area, nestled between North 39th Street and North Acadian Thruway West, quickly became the center of a grim investigation.
The Second Shooting: A Narrow Escape
Just half a mile away, near the intersection of North 39th and Washington Avenue, another shooting took place shortly after. This time, the victim was transported to a local hospital and is thankfully in stable condition.
