Authorities in Marion County have arrested Michael Taylor, 19, of Summerfield, Florida, on charges of sexually battering an 18-year-old male. The arrest follows a harrowing incident reported early Thursday morning, January 17, 2025.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), Taylor contacted the victim, an old high school friend, and invited him to hang out. The two shared food and drinks, including Pink Whitney vodka, while watching a movie.
The victim alleged that Taylor persistently refilled his cup, encouraging him to drink excessively until he became too intoxicated to react to the situation. Taylor then reportedly placed his arm over the victim, spooned him, and sexually assaulted him.
The victim immediately informed his family after realizing the assault had occurred. His family contacted authorities, who arrived at the scene and trespassed Taylor from the property. Deputies collected evidence, including the alcohol container, which corroborated the victim’s account.
In an interview with investigators, Taylor admitted to reaching out to the victim and providing the alcohol. While acknowledging that no verbal consent was discussed or given, Taylor expressed remorse, stating he “ruined his life” and regretted “cheating” on his boyfriend. Despite this admission, he inconsistently claimed the encounter was consensual, even though the victim was incapacitated by alcohol.
Taylor was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he awaits his first court appearance without bond.
