Two women were injured in a shooting incident that occurred near the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl victory parade. Authorities report that a man has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
The shooting took place around 2:35 p.m. on the 2300 block of Ben Franklin Parkway, located outside the official parade route. Police stated that a 27-year-old woman was shot in the left leg, while a 20-year-old woman was struck in the upper left thigh. Both women were transported to Presbyterian Hospital and are currently in stable condition.
According to Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore, the altercation began when the 27-year-old woman and her boyfriend attempted to navigate through the crowded area towards portable toilets. During this time, the boyfriend was reportedly punched in the face, which led to a fight breaking out between him and a group of men. Amid the confrontation, someone fired a gun, injuring the two women.
Though authorities have not located a specific crime scene, a weapon was recovered from the area. Brandon Ramos, a 28-year-old man, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and other related offenses.
