A tragic crash in the southwest Las Vegas valley claimed the life of a motorcyclist early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of Frank Sinatra and Caesars Service Drives.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the 61-year-old motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Frank Sinatra Drive when a 2024 Hyundai Tucson, heading southbound, made a left turn at the intersection against a red light. The vehicle cut directly in front of the oncoming motorcyclist, forcing the motorcyclist to attempt a sudden maneuver to avoid impact. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist lost control, causing the motorcycle to overturn. The motorcycle and rider collided with the rear-right section of the Hyundai.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. However, on Thursday, the Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Hyundai remained on the scene and reported no injuries, according to LVMPD, and there were no signs of impairment. Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of disregarding traffic signals and the importance of careful driving at all intersections. The community is left mourning this tragic loss.
