A tragic incident unfolded in Detroit on February 14, 2025, when 31-year-old Desaun Ross was arrested and charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Ebony Robinson, following a shocking shooting.

The incident occurred early Friday morning in the area of Washburn and Santa Clara, where police were called to reports of a shooting around 9:05 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found that Ross had barricaded himself inside a home. According to prosecutors, Ross shot Ebony Robinson twice in the head—first, in an alleged act of violence, and then again, as Ross claimed, “to stop her from suffering.” Court officials revealed that Ross reportedly confessed to the crime on police body camera footage, though that footage was not shown during his arraignment. He has been remanded to jail and will return to court on February 24 for a probable cause conference and again on March 3 for a preliminary examination.

The incident, which occurred near Mumford High School, left residents of the neighborhood shaken. One local resident, Katrina, expressed fear about the escalating violence in the area, stating, “It’s scary… lately, it’s been a lot of things going on around here.” Authorities reported that Robinson was found dead inside a car that had crashed into a porch shortly after the shooting, confirming that she died at the scene.
