Shocking Sentence: Former Lieutenant and Son Receive 14 Years for Drug Crimes

Charles Page, a 52-year-old former lieutenant with the Ayden Police Department, and his 29-year-old son, Treyvon Ladonte Page, were sentenced for their involvement in drug trafficking activities between 2021 and 2022. Charles Page received a 48-month prison sentence, while Treyvon Page was sentenced to 120 months. The case highlighted a significant breach of trust, as Charles Page, a 13-year veteran law enforcement officer, used his official position to assist his son’s drug trafficking operations.

U.S. Attorney Michael F. Easley, Jr. condemned Charles Page’s actions, emphasizing that law enforcement officers who abuse their positions undermine the rule of law and jeopardize public safety. The investigation into Treyvon Page’s drug distribution activities began in July 2021, following reports that he was involved in the distribution of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana in Pitt County. Over the course of the investigation, law enforcement conducted 15 controlled purchases from Treyvon between November 2021 and August 2022, confirming his involvement in trafficking various drugs.

In 2022, surveillance revealed that Treyvon was frequently visiting a residence in Grifton, owned by his father, which coincided with the timing of the drug transactions. On September 20, 2022, multiple search warrants were executed across Pitt County, including at Charles Page’s residence. Authorities seized significant quantities of drugs, including 167 grams of methamphetamine, 72 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of crack cocaine, and three shotguns.

Further investigation revealed that Charles Page had been providing confidential law enforcement information to his son, including details about ongoing drug investigations and the status of warrants. A search of Charles Page’s phone confirmed these communications. Additionally, Charles Page had unlawfully accessed law enforcement databases to retrieve information about his son’s associates.

Following the execution of the search warrant, Charles Page resigned from his law enforcement position. The case was investigated by multiple agencies, including the FBI, N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, and local sheriff’s offices.
