York County, PA – In a tragic incident that shook the community, a 50-year-old man is now facing homicide by vehicle and other felony charges after allegedly striking and killing a pedestrian last year.
According to authorities, Jeffrey Wagaman was behind the wheel on October 11, 2024, when his vehicle fatally hit 51-year-old Eric Legore in Spring Grove Borough. Police reports confirm that Legore was using a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
Emergency responders arrived at the intersection of Church Street and Water Street around 2:23 p.m. to find Legore critically injured, lying in the roadway with visible head and facial wounds. Tragically, the coroner pronounced him dead at the scene, citing blunt force trauma as the cause of death.
Wagaman, who remained at the crash site, told police he was on his way to work and did not see Legore in the crosswalk. However, surveillance footage obtained during the investigation reportedly contradicts his claim. The video evidence shows Wagaman’s vehicle striking Legore, backing up briefly, and then stopping before he exited his truck.
Following a thorough investigation, Wagaman was officially charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment, and careless driving.
This heartbreaking tragedy raises concerns about pedestrian safety and driver awareness in busy intersections. The case is still unfolding, and authorities urge drivers to remain vigilant and cautious when approaching crosswalks.
Wagaman’s legal proceedings will continue in the coming weeks as the court determines the next steps in this devastating case.
