TAMPA, Fla. – In a startling turn of events, a Florida man has been arrested after allegedly making violent threats against former President Donald Trump. The incident unfolded on Friday when authorities apprehended 46-year-old Shannon Depararro Atkins during a traffic stop near his residence in West Palm Beach.
The FBI and West Palm Beach Police Department were alerted after alarming posts surfaced on social media. According to officials, Atkins made several threats targeting Trump, sparking widespread concern. In one Facebook post, Atkins allegedly wrote, “I’ve been banned from X because I said I hope and pray someone kills him. History is supposed to repeat itself. We haven’t had an assassination in years.”
In another post referencing Trump’s inauguration, Atkins reportedly implored, “Bullets please. Please Jesus! Save America.”
Following these posts, law enforcement moved swiftly to investigate the matter. During the traffic stop that led to his arrest, Atkins was found in possession of cocaine. Authorities confirmed that Atkins admitted to writing the inflammatory posts.
The West Palm Beach Police Department charged Atkins with written or electronic threats to kill, cause bodily harm, or commit acts of terrorism. In addition, he faces drug possession charges, and federal charges may also be filed against him.
