In a dramatic turn of events, a suspect believed to be behind a string of crimes across Oregon and Washington was arrested Sunday night following a high-speed chase and multiple hit-and-runs. Law enforcement agencies are piecing together the details of the two-hour crime spree, which ended with the arrest of 43-year-old Jeffrey Boone in Salem.
Authorities report that the chaos began between 6 and 7 p.m. when Boone allegedly robbed a Subway restaurant at gunpoint on Northeast 122nd Avenue in Portland. Shortly after, he targeted multiple vehicles in a Northeast Portland neighborhood, successfully stealing a Honda before fleeing to Vancouver.
Eyewitnesses and Vancouver Police Department (VPD) officials say Boone then forced his way into a residence on Boulder Avenue, where he threatened the homeowner before stealing a white GMC pickup truck. The abandoned Honda was later towed for evidence processing.
The crime spree escalated further when Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to reports of multiple hit-and-run incidents along Interstate 5 involving the stolen truck. As authorities pursued Boone, he crashed the vehicle near milepost 256 South and attempted to flee on foot. However, officers quickly apprehended him, bringing the dangerous rampage to an end.
Boone has been booked into Marion County Jail and faces a long list of charges, including unauthorized use of a vehicle, reckless endangerment, attempting to elude police, and felon possession of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday.
