Shocking Crime: Man Murders Ex, Sets Her on Fire, and Abandons Baby

An Arizona man, Antwaun Ware, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Jasmine Dunbar, in 2018. The crime occurred when the couple was traveling to Phoenix for a paternity test in March of that year. Dunbar, 22, was last seen alive during the trip, but her 7-month-old baby was discovered alone on the side of a road. A couple found the child in a car seat, accompanied by Dunbar’s identification and personal belongings.

The following day, Phoenix police found Dunbar’s charred remains about three miles from where the baby was found. Authorities stated that Ware had brutally beaten Dunbar to death before setting her body on fire. Ware later pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree felony murder and endangerment.

Dunbar’s tragic death left her family devastated, and a GoFundMe campaign was established to help cover funeral expenses and support the care of her infant child. The campaign described Dunbar as a “sweet and struggling new mom,” highlighting her difficult circumstances. The fundraiser also sought to assist Dunbar’s mother, who faces significant health challenges, with the responsibility of raising her granddaughter.

The case drew significant attention to the vulnerability of new mothers and the impact of domestic violence. Dunbar’s mother, though facing her own health issues, had been the primary caregiver for her children, and the community showed support during this difficult time. The loss of Jasmine Dunbar and the abandonment of her baby left a lasting mark on those who knew her, as she was remembered as someone who, despite her struggles, was kind-hearted and dedicated to her family.
