A significant breakthrough in a deadly Santa Monica shooting has led to the arrest of 27-year-old Fabian Mendez from Inglewood. The incident occurred in the early hours of January 15, around 1:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Broadway, near Second Street.
According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the shooting followed a confrontation between an unidentified woman and a homeless man. Investigators say Mendez approached the scene and chased the man into the street, where he shot him in the back. The suspect fled the scene, last seen running northbound into an alley.
