Cape Girardeau Woman Arrested After Throwing Chewed Food at Restaurant Employee
A Cape Girardeau woman, Alaina Beck, 51, was arrested on multiple charges after allegedly throwing chewed food at a restaurant employee and resisting arrest on January 16, 2025. Beck faces charges of stealing, fourth-degree assault, peace disturbance, first-degree trespass, and resisting/interfering with arrest. Her bond was set at $2,500.
According to court documents, police were called to the scene of a disturbance at a local restaurant around 10:09 p.m. Officers arrived to find Beck walking away from the restaurant toward Interstate 55. Upon encountering Beck, an officer ordered her to put her hands behind her back, but Beck reportedly resisted and attempted to pull her arm away. She continued to resist until a second officer arrived, at which point she was taken into custody without further incident.
Restaurant employees told police that Beck appeared intoxicated and disruptive during her visit. After the establishment had closed for the night, employees asked Beck to leave. As an employee was boxing up Beck’s food, she allegedly reached into her mouth, pulled out chewed food, and threw it at the employee, striking her in the chest and torso. The incident was captured on video surveillance footage.
In addition to the assault, police noted that Beck left the restaurant without paying her bill, which amounted to $50.92. When arrested, Beck had $660 in cash on her person.
Beck now faces several charges stemming from the altercation, including theft, assault, and resisting arrest. The investigation continues, and her court date will determine the next steps in the legal proceedings.
