Police Chief’s Pen Pal Letter Leads to Shocking Revelations in ‘Gone Girl’ Case

A small-town police chief has made a shocking breakthrough, linking convicted kidnapper Matthew Muller to several previously unsolved cases after initiating contact through a letter exchange. Muller, a former immigration attorney and Harvard graduate, is currently serving a 40-year sentence for the 2015 “Gone Girl” kidnapping in Vallejo, California, which was initially dismissed as a hoax.

Recently, Seaside Police Chief Nick Borges invited the couple involved in Muller’s federal conviction to speak about their ordeal, sparking suspicion. Through ongoing communication with Muller, Borges discovered detailed confessions from the inmate about a 2015 kidnapping in San Ramon, where he allegedly held three victims hostage until ransom money was paid.

In addition to this, DNA evidence has linked Muller to two other unsolved home invasion cases from 2009, in which he used similar tactics. Muller’s pattern of crime spans decades, with many victims too afraid to report him at the time.

These latest revelations have prompted prosecutors to file new felony charges of kidnapping for ransom against him. If convicted, Muller could face life in prison. The investigation continues, as authorities aim to hold him accountable for the multiple crimes he’s confessed to through letters.
