MS-13 Member Pleads Guilty to Seven Slayings in New York, Including 2016 Killings of Two High School Girls

A high-ranking member of the MS-13 gang in New York, Jairo Saenz, has pleaded guilty to racketeering and other federal charges, admitting his involvement in seven murders. The case, which garnered national attention, includes the 2016 killings of two high school girls, Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cuevas, who were brutally attacked with a machete and a baseball bat. Saenz, originally from El Salvador, was the second-in-command in a gang clique operating in Brentwood and Central Islip known as Sailors Locos Salvatruchas Westside.

His brother, Alexi Saenz, the leader of the clique, had previously pleaded guilty to similar charges. The brothers were motivated by a desire to climb the MS-13 hierarchy and enhance their gang’s reputation through acts of violence. In court, Saenz admitted to ordering or approving these deadly attacks and other criminal activities, including attempted murders, arson, drug trafficking, and firearms offenses.
