Montana Bank Robber Demands Cash, Then Waits Calmly for Police to Arrive

A man in Montana was arrested for allegedly robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in Butte, but instead of trying to escape, he waited for police to arrive. The robbery happened just before 11 a.m. on a Tuesday at a branch on Harrison Avenue. The man walked up to the teller, demanded money, and then took the cash. Afterward, he sat down in the lobby and waited calmly for the authorities to come.

Butte Sheriff Ed Lester explained that the suspect didn’t resist or cause any trouble. There were no weapons involved in the robbery. The sheriff mentioned that the man might have had second thoughts after committing the crime, and instead of fleeing, he decided to wait for police to come and didn’t resist when they arrived.

Sheriff Lester also expressed relief that the situation ended peacefully. He said he was happy that no one was hurt, including the people in the bank, the officers, and the suspect. “Thankfully, everything turned out okay,” Lester said, adding that he wasn’t sure what motivated the man to rob the bank or why he didn’t try to escape. Police later impounded the suspect’s car after the arrest.

Meanwhile, a similar odd incident took place in California, where three women were caught stealing from a beauty store called Ulta. The women took about $650 worth of products from the store, but when they were arrested, they didn’t seem to realize how serious their crime was. In a video released by the Seal Beach Police Department, the women are shown in the back of a police car. One of them asks, “It’s a felony?” as they discuss the consequences of their actions. They were arrested for shoplifting, and the video went viral. The police used the opportunity to remind the public about new laws in California, such as Proposition 36, which increases penalties for retail theft and certain drug crimes.

The women, all in their 20s and from different areas in California, also allegedly stole items from a Kohl’s store, adding up to nearly $1,000 worth of stolen goods. The video of the three women has been widely shared, showing their confused reaction to their arrest and the new laws about stealing.
