Mel Gibson recently revealed that he lost his Malibu home in the LA wildfires, and he found out in an unexpected way during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
Gibson, who had lived in the house for about 15 years, described the experience as “devastating.” He shared how it felt to lose all his belongings, saying, “I had my stuff there, and it’s all like, I’ve been relieved from the burden of my stuff, because it’s all in cinders.”
While he was on the podcast, Gibson was worried about his home as he knew his neighborhood was on fire. He said, “I was doing the Rogan podcast… and I thought, I wonder if my place is still there.” When he returned home, he learned that his house was gone. Despite the loss, he joked, “Well, at least I haven’t got any of those pesky plumbing problems anymore.”
Fortunately, Gibson’s wife and children had evacuated the area before the fire reached their home. While he lost many sentimental belongings, he was relieved to know that his chickens survived.
He reflected on losing personal items like photographs, files, and clothing, but noted, “These are only things. The good news is that my family is safe, and that’s what matters most.”
This news comes after Joe Rogan shared a chilling story from a firefighter he met while filming Fear Factor. The firefighter warned that one day, a fire could burn through LA all the way to the ocean with nothing anyone could do about it.
