Corning Police Department arrested a man near the skate park on Tuesday following a brief foot pursuit. Officers responded to the park at around 4:40 p.m. after receiving reports of a suspicious individual. When police arrived, they located a man matching the description, but he fled upon seeing them.
A short foot chase ensued, leading officers through a dry creek as the suspect, identified as Jose Carazco, allegedly tried to evade capture. Officers eventually apprehended Carazco, who they say appeared to be intoxicated and had been drinking in the park.
Upon further investigation, police discovered that Carazco had provided a false name and revealed that he had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant in Tehama County for a prior DUI.
Carazco was taken into custody and booked at the Tehama County Jail, where he now faces charges related to public intoxication and obstruction, in addition to his existing warrant.
