Two Arrested in Lenoir County After 75 Pounds of Marijuana Seized

Lenoir County, North Carolina – Two individuals were arrested after law enforcement seized more than 75 pounds of marijuana at a home in Eastern Carolina.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office reported that the arrests were the result of a drug investigation led by its Street Crimes and Rapid Response and Narcotics Unit. The investigation, which involved collaboration with the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, Havelock Police Department, and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, led to the issuance of a search warrant for a residence located at 1908 Hullwood Drive, just outside Kinston.

During the search of the home, deputies discovered over 75 pounds of marijuana along with equipment used for processing, distributing, and packaging the drugs. Evidence collected at the scene directly linked Michael Goodman, 25, and Alexis Johnson, 23, both of La Grange, as the primary suspects in the operation.

Goodman was arrested at the scene and is facing multiple felony charges, including:

  • Two counts of trafficking marijuana
  • One count of conspiracy to traffic marijuana
  • One count of possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule VI substances
  • One count of possession of marijuana
  • One count of maintaining a dwelling for drug-related activities
  • One misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia

Johnson was located and arrested later during a traffic stop. She faces the same charges as Goodman.

Both suspects were taken to the Lenoir County Jail and placed under no-bond holds, as they were previously out on pretrial release for prior criminal charges.

The successful bust has raised concerns about drug trafficking operations in the region. Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation into the case, with authorities stressing the importance of community awareness in addressing drug-related crime.
