LANCASTER, Ohio – Two people were killed, and a woman was seriously injured in a violent incident on February 25, 2025, that ended with officers firing at an armed suspect, according to Lancaster police.
Incident Details
Authorities responded to a behavioral emergency call at a home on the 1200 block of North Broad Street just before 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed 26-year-old man and fired at him.
The suspect was arrested and transported to a hospital in critical condition. However, Lancaster Police Chief Nick Synder could not confirm if the suspect’s injuries were self-inflicted, caused by police gunfire, or by another person.
Inside the home, officers found two individuals dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Outside, they discovered a woman with serious injuries, who was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Investigation Underway
The names of the suspect and victims have not been released. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) has been called in to review the use of force, which is standard procedure in such cases.
No officers were injured during the incident.
