Cooper Koch Earns Golden Globe Nomination for Role in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story
Cooper Koch, the 28-year-old actor, has seen his career reach new heights thanks to his standout performance in Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story, earning his first-ever Golden Globe nomination. The actor portrays Erik Menéndez in the series, which has garnered significant attention for its portrayal of the infamous Menéndez brothers.
Speaking to Heather McMahan on E! Live From the Red Carpet ahead of the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, Koch expressed his gratitude for the recognition, noting that his life had “really changed” since joining the popular show. “This is amazing,” he said. “I’m so grateful and honored to be here.” He also acknowledged the other talented actors in his category, calling them “insane” and expressing his honor to be included among them.
The competition in his category is fierce, with notable actors such as Colin Farrell, Richard Gadd, Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, and Andrew Scott also nominated for their roles in limited series, anthology series, or TV movies.
In a light-hearted moment during the interview, Koch shared that Kim Kardashian had reached out to him via social media to praise his performance in Monsters. “It was fun,” Koch said of the interaction. “She’s great. I love her.”
Koch also recalled his visit to San Diego’s Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, where he, Kardashian, and her family members met with the Menéndez brothers. During the visit, the group discussed the Green Space project, aimed at reducing recidivism. Koch expressed his nervousness before meeting Erik Menéndez, but upon meeting him, he felt an immediate connection. “I got to hug both of them,” Koch said. “They were both so kind. They’re amazing people.”
With Monsters‘ success, Koch is now more selective in his career choices, seeking projects that align with his personal values. “I want to find something that is really special and I feel really passionate about,” he said, eager to continue making meaningful contributions to his craft.
