President-elect Donald Trump has announced Nassau County Judge Joseph Nocella Jr. as his choice for the role of US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
“Judge Nocella has a proven track record of ensuring law and order for the people of New York,” Trump shared on Truth Social. He highlighted Nocella’s experience serving as a Nassau County District Court Judge and a Family Court Judge.
Nocella, a proud graduate of Columbia Law School, has more than a decade of experience in private legal practice. Trump also noted that Nocella previously worked as an assistant US attorney in the Eastern District of New York from 1991 to 1995 and served as a law clerk for US District Judge Lawrence McKenna in the Southern District of New York.
The decision to appoint Nocella to lead the Brooklyn federal office comes just two months after Trump revealed Jay Clayton, former chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, as his pick for US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
With his extensive legal experience, Nocella is expected to bring strong leadership and a commitment to justice to his new role.
