Identities Released in South Hill Tragedy: 4 Dead in Possible Murder-Suicide

A 33-year-old Puyallup-area man, Shane Vosler, is suspected of killing his parents, William and Eileen Vosler, last summer, and storing their bodies in a fridge or freezer in the garage. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reported that Shane Vosler and his girlfriend, 34-year-old Sue Bin Lee, later died from gunshot wounds to the head in what appears to be a case of collaborative suicide. The bodies of all four individuals were discovered on December 31 at a residence in the 18900 block of Eastwood Avenue East, in the Hillsboro at Silver Creek development, located between South Hill and Graham.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims and ruled the deaths of William and Eileen Vosler as homicides. William Vosler, 68, died from a stab wound to the chest and blunt force trauma to the head, while Eileen Vosler, 66, was killed by multiple stab wounds to her head and neck. Shane Vosler’s death was ruled a suicide, but the cause of Sue Bin Lee’s death remains undetermined. Detectives believe Lee may have either participated in the killings or aided Shane afterward, but the exact circumstances surrounding her death are unclear. Evidence suggests that Shane Vosler and Lee had planned the suicide together, although Lee’s body was found to be deceased for a longer period than Shane’s.

The bodies were initially discovered following a welfare check on December 23, after a neighbor noticed William Vosler’s truck had been towed. A sheriff’s deputy visited the home but found no signs of foul play. The investigation intensified when one of the Voslers’ adult sons broke into the house on December 31 and discovered the body of a woman in a bedroom. Notes found in the fridge indicated the Voslers’ deaths occurred in July.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department stated that the investigation did not reveal a clear motive for the killings, and the case will be closed due to a lack of charges.
