Hit-and-Run Tragedy: LSU’s Kyren Lacy Faces Serious Charges After Fatal Accident

Arrest Warrant Issued for Former LSU Football Player Kyren Lacy in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash

Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for Kyren Lacy, a former LSU football standout, on charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle following a traffic accident on December 17, 2024. The crash, which occurred on LA Highway 20, resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall, a former Marine, and left two others injured.

According to Louisiana State Police, Lacy, 24, of Thibodaux, Louisiana, was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger south on LA Highway 20 when he allegedly recklessly passed multiple vehicles at high speed, crossing the centerline into the northbound lane. This occurred in a designated No-Passing Zone. To avoid a head-on collision, the driver of a northbound pickup truck swerved right, causing the driver of a following Kia Cadenza to swerve left. As a result, the Kia Cadenza collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorrento.

Lacy, who was reportedly involved in the crash, is accused of fleeing the scene without stopping to render aid or report the incident. Authorities say he drove south on LA Hwy 20, leaving the crash site. Investigators later determined that Lacy was the driver of the Dodge Charger, and the crash ultimately led to Herman Hall’s death from critical injuries.

Lacy had recently declared for the NFL Draft just days after the crash. In LSU’s most recent season, Lacy led the Tigers in receiving touchdowns and was second on the team in receptions and receiving yards.

Lacy’s legal representation has stated that he is fully cooperating with authorities and that they believe the facts will demonstrate the truth. They emphasized respect for the ongoing investigation. LSU Football also refrained from commenting out of respect for the legal process.

As the investigation continues, Lacy remains in communication with law enforcement, who are encouraging him to turn himself in.
