West Haven, CT – A devastating act of violence has claimed the lives of 19-year-old Hailey Miller, a young mother and aspiring nursing student, and a two-year-old boy in a brutal stabbing.
West Haven police confirmed that a man—who has since been taken into custody—attacked Hailey inside her apartment on Meloy Street, leaving her and the toddler fatally wounded. Authorities are still investigating the horrific crime.
Hailey’s family is shattered by the loss of a bright, compassionate, and devoted young woman whose dream was to care for others. Her cousin, Nicolette Nealy, described her as intelligent, kind, and deeply loving, especially towards her three-year-old son, Jackson.
“Providing Jackson with the best possible care was always her top priority,” Nealy shared. Hailey had recently begun exploring yoga and had plans to pursue nursing school.
The tragedy is even more gut-wrenching as Nealy recalled her heartbreaking conversation with Jackson. “Are you here to take care of me now, Nicolette, since Mommy’s gone?” he asked, struggling to understand the loss. He later added, “I’ll always feel Mommy’s love, she’s in my heart forever.”
Family members are now rallying together to support Jackson, who has lost his mother far too soon. Those wishing to help can contribute to their GoFundMe, set up to provide financial aid for Jackson’s future.
This senseless tragedy has left the community in mourning as police continue their investigation.
