Two men, Dylan Brister, 27, and Cameron Allan, 21, were sentenced to lengthy prison terms after being found guilty of drugging, sexually assaulting, and murdering 24-year-old father Calum Simpson in Fife, Scotland. The couple spiked Simpson’s drink with drugs in November 2021, leading to his intoxication and eventual death.
Following the incident, Brister and Allan sexually assaulted Simpson, recording the assault on a cell phone. Simpson, who had recently become a father, died as a result of the drug intoxication. In July 2024, both men were convicted of murder, sexual assault, and rape. Brister was sentenced to a minimum of 23 years in prison, while Allan was given a minimum sentence of 19 years.
Moira Orr, the prosecutor overseeing the case, condemned the actions of the two men, describing their behavior as “depraved.” She emphasized their complete disregard for Simpson’s safety and life, noting that they drugged his drink and subjected him to severe sexual abuse. Orr expressed her commitment to securing justice for Simpson and his family, who continue to endure the trauma of losing their loved one.
Simpson’s family has been left devastated by his death, with his youngest child being born just 11 days before the tragic incident. The case highlights the profound impact of such horrific crimes on victims’ families and the broader community.
The convictions and subsequent prison sentences mark a significant moment in the pursuit of justice for Simpson, although the emotional toll on his family remains immeasurable.
