A couple from Eastern Carolina has been arrested on multiple charges after a domestic disturbance led to a significant discovery of drugs and firearms. The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 1324 Rams Horn Road at around 12:30 a.m. on January 3rd regarding a man reportedly armed with a gun. Upon arrival, deputies encountered 34-year-old Daniel Boyd, who was attempting to leave the residence. After further investigation, deputies determined that a crime had occurred and took Boyd into custody.
During a search of Boyd’s vehicle and the home, law enforcement officers discovered drugs, including cocaine and heroin. Boyd, a convicted felon, was also found to have a firearm, which is illegal for him to possess due to his criminal history and an active domestic violence protection order barring him from owning guns.
At the time of the arrest, Boyd’s girlfriend, 32-year-old Emily Nenninger, was present in the home. Deputies found a .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine and additional drugs, leading to her arrest as well.
Boyd faces an array of charges, including felony trafficking in cocaine, heroin, and opium, felon in possession of a firearm, and multiple drug-related offenses. He also faces several misdemeanor charges related to domestic violence, including assault on a female, assault by pointing a gun, and violations of the domestic violence protective order. Boyd is currently being held in jail on a $601,000 bond.
Nenninger has been charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver cocaine, felony trafficking in opium and heroin, and felony maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for controlled substances. She has been released on a $75,000 bond.
The arrests highlight the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and domestic violence in the region.
