Frozen Tragedy: Ohio Woman Dies After Struggling Through Snow to Take Dog Outside

A tragic incident occurred in Ohio when 43-year-old Eugenia Michele Wadman was found dead from hypothermia. On a cold night, she had left her home wearing only light pajamas to walk her dog. The temperature was around 20°F when she was found by the Huron County Sheriff’s Department at about 11 a.m. on Sunday. She was discovered outside her home on Hanville Corners Road. The authorities believe she may have quickly succumbed to the freezing temperatures, as she was found struggling in the snow and ice. The sheriff’s office mentioned that she had injuries that looked like she had fallen or crawled in the harsh conditions. It’s still unclear what happened to her dog.

This incident is currently being investigated by the Huron County Sheriff’s Office and the Lucas County Medical Examiner.

In a separate incident in Illinois, 28-year-old Chelsea Adolphus was found dead from hypothermia after being missing from her hospital room. Chelsea, who had been admitted to Vista Medical Center for a medical issue, was last seen in her room at 2 a.m. on Thursday. By 9 a.m. the same day, staff discovered she was missing, and hours later, she was found on the hospital’s roof, where she had apparently wandered in only a hospital gown. The temperature was well below freezing during this time. Medical staff spent hours trying to revive her, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead later that evening.

The Lake County Coroner reported that her body temperature was about 50°F when she was found, and hypothermia was the likely cause of death. The investigation into her mysterious death is ongoing, and the facility has been asked to preserve all records and evidence related to the case. Authorities are still waiting for the results of the autopsy and toxicology tests. Both incidents highlight the dangers of extreme cold, especially when individuals are exposed to it without adequate protection.
