Emma Stone Unveils New Pixie Cut at 2025 Golden Globes
Emma Stone debuted a striking new look at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on January 5, showcasing her freshly cropped pixie cut for the first time. The 36-year-old actress has been the subject of fan speculation regarding a dramatic hair change, believed to be for her role in the upcoming film Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.
At the event, Stone wowed onlookers with a bold red gown, but it was her newly shortened hair that captured the most attention. Her pixie cut, still with some slight regrowth after shaving her head for the role, highlighted her dramatic style shift.
Stone’s transformation had been speculated for months. Back in October, she was photographed on set in New York while filming Bugonia—her fourth collaboration with Lanthimos after The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness. During this time, she was seen wearing a hat, leading many to believe she had cut off her hair entirely. A clip from the New York Film Festival, shared on social media, showed Stone adjusting her red hair, which appeared to be a wig, fueling further speculation.
The actress also debuted a darker hair color at the Golden Globes, courtesy of Tracey Cunningham, Schwarzkopf Professional’s U.S. Creative Director of Color & Technique. Cunningham used Schwarzkopf Professional’s IGORA VIBRANCE Demi-Permanent Color Line to deepen Stone’s usual red into a darker copper shade, giving it added depth and shine.
Known for her willingness to change her look, Stone even let her Kinds of Kindness co-star, Joe Alwyn, cut her hair for that film, showing her playful and easygoing personality.
Though not nominated this year, Stone remains a major presence at the Golden Globes, having won Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy in 2024 for her role in Poor Things. She previously won the same category in 2017 for La La Land.
