Queens Woman Charged After Fatal Hit-and-Run in Plainview, Nassau County
A Queens woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on Wednesday evening in Plainview, Nassau County.
Veronica Marmol, 39, of College Point, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death after allegedly striking a pedestrian on Old Country Road and fleeing the scene. The incident took place around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Old Country Road and Floral Avenue.
According to Nassau County police, Marmol was driving a 2018 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on Old Country Road when she hit a 38-year-old man who was crossing the road. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
After striking the pedestrian, Marmol allegedly drove away, but police quickly located and arrested her near the crash site. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the full details of what occurred.
