Oakland, CA – A 28-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with the murder of 29-year-old Darnesha Williams in a fatal gas station shooting earlier this year.
According to Oakland police, the deadly shooting took place on January 2 at the Kwik Serve gas station on East 12th Avenue. Surveillance footage captured the incident, helping authorities track down the suspect, Lanae Adams. Investigators identified Adams through her distinct tattoos, which were later matched to images on her Facebook and Instagram pages.
Williams was shot while driving away from the gas station in a stolen Audi, police said. The motive behind the attack has not been disclosed, but authorities believe it was a targeted shooting.
Adams was arrested on February 11 and is currently being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. She is set to appear in court on Tuesday for a plea hearing.
As the investigation continues, officials have not revealed any further details about the person who gave Adams a ride to the gas station before the shooting.
This shocking crime underscores the role of digital footprints in modern investigations, as authorities relied on social media evidence to confirm Adams’ identity.
