EXCLUSIVE: Man Arrested After 5-Week Probe into THC Vape Sales to School Children

BULLHEAD CITY, AZ – A months-long investigation has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man accused of selling THC vapes to minors, police announced Wednesday.

Matthew Felix Swaim was taken into custody following a traffic stop near Oliver Drive and Patillo Drive in Bullhead City. Later that night, authorities executed a search warrant at his home on Santa Maria Road, uncovering evidence of THC vape sales, along with a handgun and counterfeit money.

The investigation, spearheaded by Bullhead City’s Community Oriented Policing Section (COPS), began in January after reports surfaced about vapes being sold to school children. Working alongside narcotics detectives and school officials, police identified Swaim as the prime suspect.

THC vapes—containing the psychoactive compound in marijuana—had recently been confiscated from students at both junior high and high schools in the area, raising serious concerns among educators and law enforcement.

Swaim now faces multiple felony charges, including drug offenses involving minors, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal use of electronic communication for drug transactions, forgery, and misconduct involving weapons. He has been booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman.

Bullhead City, a community of approximately 43,000 residents along the Arizona side of the Colorado River, is located about 100 miles southeast of Las Vegas. Authorities continue to investigate whether others were involved in the illegal distribution network.
