Woman Arrested After 11-Year-Old Boy Found Dead at Northern California RV Park
A woman was arrested Sunday after deputies discovered the body of an 11-year-old boy at a rural RV park in Northern California. The incident unfolded at Lovey’s Landing RV Park, located north of Meridian, around 10 a.m. Deputies from the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call at the park, situated along the Sacramento River, roughly four miles southwest of Colusa and 17 miles west of Yuba City.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies encountered 44-year-old Meagan Ann Dixon, who was reportedly under the influence of narcotics and causing a disturbance. Shortly after, officers discovered the deceased 11-year-old boy inside a mobile travel trailer at the park.
Dixon was arrested on suspicion of homicide and child endangerment. However, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office has not yet revealed how Dixon and the boy were related. Dixon is currently being held in Sutter County Jail while authorities continue to investigate.
Sutter County detectives, with assistance from the Sutter County District Attorney’s Office and the California Attorney General’s Office, are working together on the case. In addition to the tragic discovery of the boy’s body, radio dispatches reviewed by The Sacramento Bee suggest that at least one dog was found dead at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed the total number of animals involved or their species, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
A spokesperson from the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office assured the public that additional information will be provided as the investigation develops, including a news conference scheduled for Monday afternoon. The case has raised numerous questions, and authorities are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
