A devastating house fire in northeast Dallas early Monday morning has resulted in one death, one injury, and a firefighter sustaining a lower leg injury. Dallas Fire-Rescue crews were called to a one-story home on Boedeker Street just before 6 a.m. after 911 calls reported heavy smoke and flames inside the garage at the back of the house.
The fire had already advanced significantly by the time firefighters arrived, forcing them to battle it from the exterior. Before evacuating the building, crews successfully rescued two residents from inside the home. Both individuals were immediately treated by paramedics and rushed to nearby hospitals in critical condition, but sadly, one of them later succumbed to their injuries.
A firefighter was also injured during the operation when he suffered a lower leg injury. He was taken to a local hospital, where he is now in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
Thankfully, three other residents from an adjoining duplex nearby were unharmed. Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze, while authorities remind the public to stay vigilant about fire safety in their homes.
