Onslow County Man Arrested for Throwing Items at Vehicles and Other Offenses

In Onslow County, North Carolina, a 20-year-old man has been arrested on multiple charges following reports of dangerous behavior involving oncoming traffic. The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Blake Bowen was taken into custody after a series of incidents reported on Monday.

Deputies first received multiple complaints about a man in an older blue Ford Mustang throwing objects at oncoming vehicles, causing damage. The reports indicated that the suspect was targeting passing cars in the Horseshoe Bend area of Piney Green, prompting authorities to initiate an investigation.

Later that evening, around 10:50 p.m., deputies responded to a similar report in which a driver was blocked by a vehicle and prevented from passing. During the incident, the suspect reportedly threw burning objects toward the victim’s vehicle, further escalating the situation.

A subsequent search led deputies to Carlson Drive in Midway Park, where they located a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses. Bowen, the alleged driver of the vehicle, was arrested at the scene.

Authorities have charged Bowen with the following offenses:

  • Two counts of reckless driving with wanton disregard
  • Three counts of disorderly conduct (disturbing the peace)
  • Three counts of littering
  • False imprisonment under common law
  • Driving while license revoked/limited driving privileges
  • Reckless driving to endanger
  • Two counts of failure to burn headlamps
  • Certain fires to be guarded by a watchman
  • Simple assault
  • Failure to maintain lane control

Bowen was booked into the Onslow County Jail under a $40,000 secured bond. Officials stated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized the seriousness of the offenses, which endangered the safety of other drivers and caused property damage. Authorities are urging anyone with further information about the incidents to come forward to aid in their investigation.
