LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A tense standoff unfolded in the southwest Las Vegas valley Tuesday afternoon after a robbery suspect barricaded themselves inside a home, prompting a heavy police and SWAT response.
The incident began around 12:25 p.m. when Metro police received a report of an armed robbery in the 7500 block of Lush Oasis Avenue, near Buffalo Drive and Windmill Lane. Authorities said the suspect approached a worker in the neighborhood and robbed them at knife-point before fleeing into a nearby residence.
Refusing to surrender, the suspect barricaded themselves inside the home, leading police to escalate the situation. SWAT teams and crisis negotiators were quickly deployed to the scene, working to bring the standoff to a peaceful resolution.
After hours of negotiations, authorities successfully took the suspect into custody around 4:20 p.m. No injuries were reported during the ordeal.
