BREAKING: Man Arrested After Gunfire and Violent Altercation in Marshall County

WARREN, Minn. – A chaotic and violent encounter in rural Warren led to the arrest of a man after multiple gunshots were fired inside a home, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of February 16 when authorities received a disturbing 911 call from Cory Jones, who was reportedly highly intoxicated and claimed that people were coming after him. He also mentioned having a gun and that “there was a lot of blood.”

Deputies rushed to the scene and instructed Jones to put down his weapon and step outside. He complied, allowing officers to enter the residence, where they discovered bullet holes in the walls, ceiling, and windows, as well as a bolt-action rifle on the bed. Bloodstains throughout the home painted a grim picture of what had transpired.

Jones later told authorities that another man, who had been visiting, attacked him and was responsible for his injuries. However, when deputies tracked down the other individual, a different story emerged. The man claimed he had been forced to defend himself after Jones fired seven rounds from a .308 rifle.

According to the witness, Jones was acting erratically in his shop, prompting concern. When the visitor went inside to check on him, Jones allegedly pointed the rifle at him and fired. A struggle ensued, with the visitor ultimately disarming Jones before fleeing the house. His account of the gunfire matched the scene deputies had found at Jones’ home.

Following the investigation, Cory Jones was arrested and charged with two felony counts of 2nd-degree assault.
