Lakeway, TX – A mobile home fire erupted Friday afternoon in Lakeway, prompting a swift response from Lake Travis Fire Rescue. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the blaze caused power outages and damage to a nearby property.
Firefighters arrived at the scene around 2:30 p.m. on January 31 at the 800 block of Brooks Hollow Road, where they found a large fire consuming the home’s exterior. Propane tanks on the property added to the danger, making the situation even more volatile.
Two residents were inside when the fire started but managed to escape safely. However, firefighters faced difficulties accessing the home due to a six-foot concrete wall surrounding the property. Despite these challenges, crews worked for several hours to contain the flames and prevent further destruction.
Neighbors reported hearing loud popping sounds and witnessing flares as the fire spread, igniting nearby vegetation. Emergency responders quickly extinguished the additional flames before they could cause more damage.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire. “We don’t really know what started it,” said Lake Travis Assistant Fire Chief Mike Prather. The incident remains under investigation.
While no evacuations were necessary, the fire resulted in power outages for several homes in the area. Officials continue to assess the damage and ensure safety in the neighborhood.
More updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
