Denver – Broncos outside linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of second-degree assault of a police officer, according to court records.
Wilhoite, 38, is scheduled to appear in court Monday at 10:30 a.m. Court documents indicate the incident occurred at a parking garage at Denver International Airport.
The Broncos addressed the situation in a brief statement, saying, “We are aware of a situation involving Michael Wilhoite that occurred Sunday and are in the process of gathering more information.”
Wilhoite, who joined the Broncos in 2023, previously worked under head coach Sean Payton in New Orleans before coaching for the Los Angeles Rams.
Before transitioning to coaching, Wilhoite had a six-year NFL playing career, spending five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and finishing his career with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017.
With Payton currently at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, the arrest adds further complications as the Broncos navigate multiple coaching vacancies this offseason.
Authorities have yet to release further details, and Wilhoite’s future with the team remains uncertain.
