FOSTORIA, Ohio – A shocking incident unfolded in Fostoria as an 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly firing multiple shots into a home in the early hours of February 23.
According to authorities, police responded to a report of gunfire at a residence in the 300 block of S. Polar Street around 4:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the house had been struck four times by gunfire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Following an intensive investigation, detectives from the Fostoria Police Department, in collaboration with the Seneca County Regional SRT, executed a search warrant on February 24 at a nearby home on Crocker Street. Officers surrounded the residence, conducted interviews with occupants, and ultimately identified the suspected shooter.
On Tuesday, authorities arrested 18-year-old Michael Bollinger, charging him with discharging a firearm into habitation. Bollinger reportedly turned himself in without incident and, according to an official press release, admitted to his involvement in the shooting.
The motive behind the gunfire remains unclear as investigators continue to gather evidence. Bollinger is currently being held at the Seneca County Jail without bond as he awaits his initial court appearance.
This alarming event has left the community shaken, raising concerns about gun violence in the area. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case.
