Bertie Sheriff: Aulander Man Threatens to Kill Officers Serving Papers

The Bertie County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of an Aulander man after he threatened to kill law enforcement officers who were serving him papers for an involuntary commitment.

According to Sheriff Tyrone Ruffin, deputies arrived at the man’s residence to execute the commitment order when he refused to cooperate. The individual, armed with a pistol, barricaded himself inside the home and made verbal threats against the officers.

Concerned for the safety of everyone involved, the sheriff’s office requested additional support from the Nash County Sheriff’s Response Team and the Sheriff’s Electronic Team. These specialized units were brought in to assist with the situation and ensure a peaceful resolution.
